6. Expansions
Expansions extend the functionality of SmartSampler2 for specialized sampling and fluid-handling tasks. SmartConfig2 displays the relevant module controls according to the selected sampler mode and the expansion area you open.
Connect and configure an expansion
- Install the expansion, tubing, accessories, and collection equipment according to the verified SmartSampler2 hardware documentation.
- Connect SmartConfig2 to SmartSampler2. After connection, SmartConfig2 normally retrieves the device configuration automatically. Use Reload Settings only if retrieval did not complete or you need to refresh the displayed configuration.
- Open Input > Modules, select the required module, and configure whether it is connected and how many modules are present.
- Select the required sampler mode in Basic. Mode-specific sampling settings and module controls then become available.
- Save changed settings, test manual controls with the fluid path safely installed, and check the module response before starting an automated sequence.
AquaMate
The AquaMate sampler mode supports configured sample positions, flushing, filling, purge time, pump delay, and flow-controlled filling. In Input > Modules > AquaMate, SmartConfig2 provides module quantity, maintenance, and manual valve controls.
When a supported flow-control setup is connected, SmartSampler2 counts flow pulses, calculates flow and accumulated volume, and can stop filling when the configured target volume is reached. Flow measurements can be included in stored or transmitted data where configured.
AutoSampler8
The TreeFlux sampler mode uses supported AutoSampler8 configurations for chamber flushing, tube flushing, equilibration, sample filling, and repeat processing. SmartConfig2 provides AutoSampler8 basics, live-reading, advanced pump-speed, and manual-control screens.
Use the module address to request data from a selected module or enable live readings. Manual controls can operate supported valves and pumps for setup and troubleshooting. Use the controls only with the fluid path correctly installed and after stopping an automated program.
User-defined programs
Select User defined when the required process does not match a dedicated sampler mode or when several module actions must be sequenced. User-defined programs can include delays, alarm waits, module and sensor switching, output control, sensor readings, telemetry, cleaning commands, formulas, temporary storage, comparisons, pulse counters, flow-controlled filling, subprograms, and supported connected-module commands.
Supported module actions include commands for AquaMate, AutoSampler8, and MultiRelay modules. Validate the program in SmartConfig2 before applying it to SmartSampler2, and confirm that the configured module addresses and physical devices match the deployment.
Hardware documentation
For expansion connections, installation, environmental requirements, capacity, and safe operation, use the verified SmartSampler2 documentation:
- SmartSampler2 AquaMate expansion
- SmartSampler2 AutoSampler8 hardware reference
- SmartSampler2 expansions overview
SmartConfig2 settings do not confirm that a physical expansion is correctly installed. Inspect the hardware, tubing, power, connectors, filters, and collection setup before running a field sequence.
