6. Diagnostics & Maintenance

6.1 Quick Hardware Tests

These basic checks help confirm that the SmartSampler hardware is operational before deeper troubleshooting.

  • Power-on LED check
When powering up, the status LED should blink to indicate system initialization. A steady light indicates normal operation. No light means power is not reaching the controller.
  • Cleaning
Keep connectors, cable ends, and housing free from dust, salt, or debris. Clean gently with a soft cloth. For field units, rinse housing surfaces with fresh water after exposure to rain or splash water. Never use solvents.

6.2 Troubleshooting

Common issues and first-level solutions:

  • Blown fuses & wiring faults
    • Check inline fuses on power input if the unit does not start.
    • Replace only with the correct rating.
    • Inspect wiring for loose connections, corrosion, or frayed cables.
  • Overcurrent trips & thermal issues
    • If modules shut down unexpectedly, check for blocked pumps or valves drawing too much current.
    • Allow the unit to cool and inspect for overheating near power regulators.
    • Reset by cycling power after the cause is corrected.
  • Water ingress detection
    • Inspect sealing gaskets and cable glands regularly.
    • If internal condensation or droplets are visible, disconnect immediately and dry thoroughly before reuse.
    • Persistent ingress requires resealing or service.

Note:

Always document any repeated faults or irregular behavior. This information helps trace issues during support requests.
