What is a Pod?
Pods are modular external devices that connect to the SmartSampler system to extend its capabilities. Unlike full-featured modules, Pods do not contain their own microcontroller. Instead, they rely on the SmartSampler for control, power, and data interpretation.
Each Pod typically includes sensors or I/O components such as:
- Analog or digital sensors (e.g., temperature, flow, TDS)
- Valves, relays, or actuators
- Signal conditioning circuits
- or extend the ports functionality
The FlowControl Pod, for example, includes:
- A flow meter (pulse-based)
- An analog TDS sensing circuit (electrode-based)
- A temperature sensor (analog output)
Pods are designed to be cost-effective, compact, and easy to integrate into your deployment.
⚠️ Important Notes:
- Only one Pod can be active or in use at a time.
- Pods connect only to SmartSampler output ports.
- Pods are not automatically detected. The user must manually assign the correct port through the SmartSampler interface.
