The Time tab is used to configure the internal Real Time Clock (RTC) of the SmartSampler2. Accurate timekeeping is essential for correctly timestamping sensor readings and logged data.

⏱ Device Time
- The SmartSampler2 contains an onboard RTC that keeps track of the current date and time.
- The RTC ensures that measurements and logged data include accurate timestamps, even when the sampler is restarted or disconnected from power (backup provided by the CR2032 battery).
⚙️ Settings
- Sync time
- Pressing this button sets the device time equal to the connected computer’s system time.
- Recommended after initial setup or whenever the device clock drifts.
- Time offset (hours)
- Allows applying a manual correction in hours.
- Useful when external time synchronization (via LTE or GPS) is enabled but the reported time is in a different time zone.
- Example: If GPS provides UTC and you want local time UTC+2, set offset to
+2
.
- Save
- Stores the configured offset in the SmartSampler2 so it persists across restarts.
📌 Notes
- Always check and set the RTC before starting long-term measurements.
- If the RTC battery (CR2032) is empty, timekeeping may reset when the sampler is powered off.
- Using Sync time regularly ensures alignment with your logging or telemetry systems.
- When LTE or GPS modules are active, the sampler can automatically update its time. The offset ensures timestamps match the user’s preferred time zone.
