5.1 Quick Hardware Tests

Power-On Check

  1. Connect the power supply within the specified voltage range.
  2. Turn on the SmartSampler.
  3. Observe the status LEDs.
    • Expected result: Power LED lights solid, activity LED blinks after startup.

Jumper Configuration

  1. Power off the SmartSampler.
  2. Open the enclosure or access panel where the communication port jumpers are located.
  3. Compare the jumper setting with the requirements of your connected sensor (e.g., termination resistor enabled/disabled, bias resistors engaged, RS-232 vs. RS-485 mode).
    • Expected result: Jumpers match the intended communication setup.

RTC Battery (CR2032)

Purpose: This maintains date/time when the unit is unpowered.

Locate the CR2032 coin cell battery holder on the main board.

Remove the battery and check voltage with a multimeter.

Expected result: Voltage ≥ 2.8 V.

If < 2.8 V: Replace with a new CR2032 battery.

Reinsert or replace the battery, ensuring correct polarity.
